Halloween is Here Ghost Stories

Decorating - Halloween Doesn't Have to be Scarey!

Decorating for Halloween doesn't always mean scarey, spooky or macabre.  Small children enjoy this day or evening more if the decor they are presented with is more of a funny, natural theme.  Decorating with pumpkins, hay stocks, straw scarecrows, and ghosts along the Casper form are not as terrifying or threatening to them and much more enjoyable.

Fortunately, Halloween decor can range from the most bone-chilling to the hilarious and any age can achieve wondrous results with appropriate age level design and attention.  Whether using white helium balloons for ghosts or black ones for bats, to a spooky graveyard in the yard or a pumpkin patch in the yard, to a straw scarecrow or a Frankenstein doll, all sorts of items are available to decorate in a theme of one's personal choosing.

I love to decorate for holidays.  I like finding the different, strange items to use in unusual ways for decorating.  After each holiday when the stores mark all their remaining inventory down for clearance is when I like to shop for the next year's decorations.  It's amazing how many great decorations you can get at recycle centers and resale shops like Goodwill and Salvation Army stores before and after each holiday.  People tend to get rid of their old and replace with new, or get rid of the decor instead of storing it after they have used it.  Great time to gather up items for the next year.  Sales before holidays is a great time to shop for the current released new themed items for the upcoming holiday.  For example, this year's Halloween's season of movie releases will be inspiring new themed decorating items as does the year's top video games and cartoons.

Decorating for Halloween is only half the fun!  Enjoying the quality family time while doing the decorating can be extremely rewarding, and then seeing the faces of visitors, trick-or-treaters, party guests and friends proves to be almost as much fun as the decorating was!!!

Halloween is about having fun, enjoying family time, and of course as Jerry Seinfeld says in his Halloween book - it is about CANDY!!!  So enjoy decorating, be safe trick-or-treating and eat CANDY!!!
